Almost 10 years after the magazine Wired highlighted on the cover the story of a Mexican student who was nicknamed the new Steve Jobs, the film will be released Radical where Eugenio Derbez will act as an actor and producer.
“This is the story of a girl who won first place in the country in an exam that was passed in 2012 and came from a school where there were no resources, there was nothing, it was one of the worst schools in terms of qualifications and, suddenly she is the best.
Turns out it was due to the teacher’s method, and several of his classmates also had very high marks,” Derbez, whose production company 3Pas Studio made a film that is considered motivational and will be screened at the festival, recently noted. 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
“I hope this will help change education in this country. We filmed it in Mexico and the truth is that it is beautiful,” added the 61-year-old actor.
From my side, Kim Yutani, program director of the festival, praised the excellent work done by Derbez.
“We wanted to start with a real explosion. Radical Directed by Chris Zalla, who made Our father, which received the Grand Jury Prize a few years ago. This is a very touching film about educators helping children to reach their potential and discover the genius in themselves. We were very inspired by this film which is set in Mexico and in which Eugenio Derbez played an incredible role,” he said.
In addition to his film role, Derbez will also be relevant in the comedy genre until the fifth season of the series. LOL: last laugher, series that premiered on Prime Video.
“It started as an experiment. What do I fall in love with the most LAUGHING OUT LOUD it’s an opportunity to discover new ways to make people laugh that are completely different from what we’re used to. Having a comedian locked up for six hours to see how far they can go to make another laugh seemed like a great formula, i.e. if you think about it put 10 comedians in a room and have them talk to each other to make them laugh each other, the public wins, I think it’s a very good project, very brave, yes, but I think that in the end a lot of good things will come out of it. LAUGHING OUT LOUDDerbez explained in an interview with the Excelsior newspaper.
