The whole world is closely watching the situation around Taiwan. In China intend resolve the Taiwan issue peacefully, but as a last resort, we are ready to use force. Independent international expert on China Andrew Leung told REN TVthat the PRC can resolve this conflict according to the precepts of the philosopher Sun Tzu, because “the best war is the one that is won without a fight.”

“China will not miss its opportunity”

Leung believes that after Nancy Pelosi’s scandalous visit to Taiwan, China will not miss the opportunity to resolve the Taiwan issue as soon as possible.

“I don’t think that (Pelosi’s visit. – Approx. REN TV) is a good idea, in the end Pelosi is found guilty for her position. Everything seems simple. Now look at how her plane flew before landing in Taiwan. He flew there all day long over the South China Sea. And Pelosi flew all day to Taiwan to arrive from the east, not the west. This was a check with the support of the US military, who are wary of Beijing’s forces stationed in the South China Sea.” – said the expert.

“Therefore, the future defense of Taiwan is no longer in question, because after the insult to Chinese citizens and the president, Beijing will take the opportunity to establish its own order of things,” Leung says.

“The best war is the one won without a fight”

The expert believes that with the help of military exercises, China can create a tough blockade around Taiwan.

“Taiwan is an island, so they need outside help, including air travel with other countries. Therefore, if a blockade of Taiwan is imposed, it will not last long. This is Beijing and makes it clear to Taiwan and the United States that they are interfering in the “one China” policy, allowing everything more and more officials to visit it, allowing Taiwan to play the role of an independent state,” – he said.

According to Leung, Beijing will not turn a blind eye to this indefinitely. However, the decision that Beijing is aiming for must be made peacefully.

“The Art of War” by Sun Tzu says that the best war is one that is won without a fight. But how to do this if most of the people of Taiwan do not support unification? They lived in Taiwan, they do not want unification. But, on the other hand , they do not have enough opportunities to resist, because the economy and living standards will worsen in this way. The most optimal thing for them is to live and work on the mainland and in the world. It is obvious that Taiwan depends on the Chinese economy. “doesn’t work here” – explained the international expert.

Conditions for a peaceful solution

Leung believes that in order to resolve the Taiwan issue, China can make the exercise a permanent practice so that Taiwan will be under constant pressure.

“But it’s reckless for businesses and people in China itself. In fact, as a lady told me a long time ago, many businesses in Taiwan are preparing to be ‘evacuated’ if something starts,” he said.

“I think China wants to decide in the near future when exactly the peace talks will start, the search for a peaceful solution. China will force Taiwan to find an economic model that at least focuses on the interests of the people. This is the option in which between China and Taiwan peaceful unification will be achieved, without war, – said the expert.

Can Biden compete with China?

Leung commented on the chip investment law, accepted Biden to compete with China. According to him, America understands that it is losing the competition for the ownership of these high technologies.

“The United States is relying on other countries and is weakening to some extent, which is why Biden issued this investment bill in the hope that America will become independent. These chips can be used everywhere – in industry and in the military,” the expert said.

“But it’s easier said than done. First, the issue of the ecosystem is important. We are talking about development, research – all components should be taken into account in the creation process. In addition, hundreds of specialists are required to develop these devices – this is not the same it’s like pushing a button and making your own coffee. It’s not easy to reinvent a production system of this magnitude. So Biden’s attempts will not change the situation, “ he thinks.

The US wants to get the technology

The expert noted that only two companies are engaged in the production of such chips – in Taiwan and in South Korea. Moreover, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is a leading manufacturer in the world.

“What is happening now is an attempt by the United States to deprive China of the opportunity to reunite with Taiwan and take over companies that are engaged in such developments. China is a high-tech country without them,” he noted.

US paranoia has been on the rise since the start of Chinese exercises, Leung said.

“Once Taiwan is reunited with China, America will have no opportunity to get these technologies. The US has enough of its own specialists, but the problem is that they themselves do not produce anything,” – said the expert.

“The adoption of the bill is the first step towards investing a lot of money in production. This document actually means a change in attitude towards American industrial policy. The United States never had it, because the government was sure that the private sector would take care of everything,” Leung explained.

China does not rule out the use of force

On August 10, China announced that they intend to resolve the Taiwan issue peacefully. However, if pro-independence and “outside forces” cross the red line, Beijing could take control of the island by force.

“We do not promise to renounce the use of force and reserve the possibility of taking all necessary measures against the interference of external forces and the very few separatists of “Taiwan independence,”says in a document of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

Aggravation of the situation around Taiwan

The situation in Taiwan escalated after the scandalous visit of Nancy Pelosi. The speaker of the US House of Representatives arrived on the island on August 2, despite numerous protests from Beijing.

The Chinese authorities regarded Pelosi’s visit as support for Taiwanese separatism. On August 4, the People’s Liberation Army of China announced large-scale military exercises. And the Chinese Foreign Ministry warned that they were ready to take any measures to protect the geographical integrity of their country.

China fired ballistic missiles over the island for the first time in history. Several fighters and a dozen ships ended up behind the median line of the Taiwan Strait for some time.

On August 5, Beijing temporarily suspended cooperation with Washington in several important areas at once. And on August 9, the Taiwanese army responded to China with large-scale exercises with firing in the south of the island.
