Russian scientists have created a vaccine against COVID-19 with a new antigenic composition. This was stated on Sunday by the head of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg, during a conversation with journalists from the information agencies Interfax.
“New composition improves the performance of the drug against the new strain of COVID-19 “delta-omicron”“Gintsburg said.
In addition, the specialist emphasized that the emergence of a new strain suggests that at this stage in the evolution of the virus, there are certain ways of variability that are based on recombination. According to him, this means that if two viruses enter the same cell at the same time, then theoretically they can exchange parts.
Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, said that a hybrid of the delta and omicron coronavirus strains shows great potential for SARS-CoV-2 variability.
