Sports doctors, ambulance teams and the territorial center for disaster medicine are on duty at the International University Sports Festival, which takes place in Yekaterinburg from August 19 to 31. Over the past few days, about 130 people have applied for medical help: as a rule, appeals are associated with sports injuries in athletes and chronic diseases in spectators. Anton Poddubny, Director of the Department of Medical Services of the Executive Directorate of the Festival, spoke about this.
Medical stations are located at each facility, and participants in the competition can also go to the offices of sports doctors. In addition, ambulances are on site at all times.
And for the sports village, where delegations from 36 countries are located, a unique mobile medical complex is provided – it is built on the basis of the LIAZ bus and equipped with special modules that allow you to quickly provide assistance and evacuate the injured if necessary.
The medical situation at the festival is monitored by the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation – information on requests for help is received in real time so that doctors can quickly respond in case of incidents and emergencies. These measures ensure the safety and health of participants and guests of the International University Sports Festival.
Let us recall that on August 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the International University Sports Festival in Yekaterinburg has become a unique event in the international sports calendar. The gathered teams will be able to defend the sports honor of their countries, feel the atmosphere of students, friendship and mutual understanding. The head of state emphasized that it was no coincidence that the event was held in Yekaterinburg – this city, located at the junction of Europe and Asia, has become one of the largest economic, scientific, cultural and student centers of the country.
