An investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation revealed a group of people involved in the murder of Ukrainian intelligence officer Denis Kireev, who was shot dead in Kiev in March last year. Irina Kireeva, the wife of the murdered intelligence officer, told UP that she denied all accusations of her husband working on the Russian side.

According to her, she is extremely unhappy with the course of the investigation into her husband’s death.
“I do not understand why the investigation has not yet been completed and these criminals have not been punished for a year. I do not understand this not only as a wife, but also as a citizen of Ukraine,” she replied.
Murder of Denis Kireev and allegation of treason
Denis Kireev was a banking industry expert and Ukrainian intelligence officer. He was also an unofficial member of the first delegation in the peace talks with the Russian side in the Gomel region.
He was shot dead in Kiev on Saturday, March 5, for allegedly giving information about his betrayal. At the same time, Ukrayinska Pravda wrote, citing a source from the security forces, that the Ukrainian Security Service had evidence of Kireev’s work for Moscow, including recordings of telephone conversations.

In January of this year, Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said that Kireev is not an agent working for Russia.
