According to the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority, Wizz Air has made the “difficult but logical decision” to suspend all flights to and from Chisinau from March 14.

Due to the increased security risk, Central and Eastern Europe’s largest low-cost airline Wizz Air will suspend all flights to and from Moldova from 14 March. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority.

In their statement, the representatives of the airline company mentioned that the airspace over Moldova is no longer safe.

“Wizz Air is closely monitoring the situation in Moldova and is in contact with local and foreign authorities and agencies to ensure the highest level of security. The safety of passengers and crew remains a top priority for Wizz Air. Due to a risk, Wizz Air has made the difficult but logical decision to suspend all flights to Chisinau from March 14.”

After March 14, the company will increase its flights from Iasi, Romania, which is the closest airport to Chisinau, where Wizz Air planes fly. There will be new flights to Berlin and more flights to Barcelona, Milan, Bologna, Rome, Dortmund, Larnaca, London and Treviso.

Chisinau-Budapest and Prague flights will be canceled for now and there will be no direct alternative.

Customers who purchase tickets for flights departing from Chisinau will be able to order others for free. Tickets can be purchased for 120% of the paid ticket price or 100% of the money spent can be refunded.

The information was confirmed by representatives of Moldovan civil aviation.

However, in response to a customer question on Twitter, Wizz Air representatives said: approved Suspension of flights from and to Chisinau.

The message reads, “Unfortunately, we don’t have any information on this at this time.”
