Verkhovna Rada deputies could receive a draft of such a proposal from the head of state as early as next week.
President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that corruption should be equated with treason. He said this in an interview with Natalya Mosiychuk.
He drew attention to the necessity of such actions in wartime. Parliament will be asked to pass a law on the subject.
According to him, the initiative will be a very serious tool of struggle. The President said that deputies of the Verkhovna Rada will be able to draft such a resolution already next week. “This is not an execution, this is not Stalinism,” the politician noted, adding that if there is evidence, one should go to jail. According to him, this rule may not always work.
“For wartime, I think this will help,” he explained.
The head of state noted that if we are talking about corruption or its risks, it is not just about domestic issues, it also has an “echo” from the outside. According to the politician, “not every city can tackle the cobblestones”, but he points to fundamental solutions.
The President said he did not have time to fight corruption. According to him, in February-March 2022 there was “a struggle for survival to have Ukraine” in Ukraine, but now we need to restore order in all sectors.
“If you want to tackle local cobbles, I can’t fight every city’s cobblestone,” he said.
When asked about the fight against corrupt officials on his team, he said he would dismiss such officials if the facts were confirmed.
Remember, on August 21, it was learned that a platform for corruption whistleblowers will become operational in Ukraine. NAPC explained that this will allow organizations to send anonymous messages to their employees about corruption cases in their company.
