Opinions differ among the countries included in the “Big Seven” regarding the security of Ukraine. Therefore, the preparation of the relevant contracts requires a significant amount of time. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal with reference to European officials.
The G7 countries cannot agree on how detailed the commitments to Ukraine should be. In addition, there is a need to establish a dialogue with Kiev to identify possible needs for military cooperation in the future.
The G7 expresses its intention to hold coordinated bilateral negotiations between the participants and Western countries to secure the promised military support to Ukraine. At the same time, they seek to provide assistance that does not weaken the Allied defense industry and that does not violate their own defense needs and capabilities.
Western officials admit that without reliable Ukraine’s support, Russia is unlikely to end the war and prevent a new war.
Recall that at the North Atlantic Alliance summit in Vilnius in July, the G7 countries agreed on a framework document on “security guarantees” for Ukraine.
On August 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine could receive security guarantees from the United States similar to those of Israel.
