“I condemn Putin’s aggression”: Hungarian president tried to justify relations with the Russian Federation

According to Katalin Nowak, Budapest sees the war in Ukraine as an attack by Putin and the Russian Federation against a sovereign country. However, a mechanism now needs to be developed for Kiev and Moscow to sit at the negotiation table.

Hungarian President Katalin Nowak condemned the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine. There can be no relationship between Hungary and Russia that would undermine Budapest’s commitments to NATO. He stated this at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on November 8.

Novak said he supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. And he condemned Russia’s aggression since the large-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to him, this is also the official position of Hungary.

“Personally, I have also spoken out loud from the very first moment how much I condemn Putin’s aggression, and this is also the official position of Hungary, which sees the war in Ukraine as Putin’s aggression against a sovereign country and unacceptable aggression by Russia. and, in my opinion, most importantly, “To what extent do we see this as an insult to a sovereign country, and to what extent do we defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” the Hungarian President said.

Novak describes the peaceful end of the war in Ukraine

Hungarian President Katalin Nowak does not yet see a way out of the war. She believes it is necessary to figure out how to sit at the negotiating table and eventually achieve a ceasefire.

“After all, the ultimate goal has to be peace. We have to find a way to peace, which frankly I don’t see right now. I don’t see a way out of this war yet, and I’m sure the Politician said we have to figure out how to get to the negotiating table and ultimately get a ceasefire.”

Novak on relations between Hungary and the Russian Federation

The Hungarian President tried to justify the country’s periodic contacts with Russia and President Vladimir Putin.

“As for the relations between Putin and Hungary, or the relations between Russia, Russia and Hungary. I prefer to put it this way. I can assure you that there cannot and should not be any relations between Hungary and Russia that would undermine our bond. Our obligations to our allies, whether NATO or the European Union “There is,” he said.

Let us remind you that Balazs Orbán, the political director of Hungarian Prime Minister Balazs Orbán, said that Hungary will prevent the start of negotiations for accession to the European Union with Ukraine until the requirements for the language of instruction are met.
