The media had previously written that Bezgin issued a power of attorney in Crimea in 2020 for the sale of his apartment in Yevpatoria to his aunt Galina Gerasimova, a Russian citizen and a member of the “Crimean Parliament” from United Russia. According to information from the state register of real estate rights, Bezgin owned an apartment with an area of ​​59.4 square meters in Yevpatoria after inheriting it from his grandparents. The apartment was sold according to Russian law, as evidenced by an extract from the Russian registry. Thus, Deputy Bezgin actually recognized Russian legislation in Crimea and committed a crime under the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The NGO Stop Corruption appealed to the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General’s Office with a statement regarding Bezgin’s crime, that is, the signs of crime according to Article 2. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is a violation of territorial integrity, which includes the de facto recognition of Russian sovereignty in occupied Crimea. Since the law enforcement authorities left the application without evaluation, NGO representatives applied to the court, demanding that the relevant information be entered into the ERDR and to initiate an investigation.

The NGO Stop Corruption also published fragments of a letter from the Prosecutor General’s Office in which the relevant order was given to the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation to investigate Bezgin’s crime. The sanction of this article provides for a prison sentence of 5 to 10 years, whether or not there is confiscation of assets.
