To prevent a war between the Russian Federation and NATO: Germany will not transfer the Taurus and its army to Ukraine – Scholz

According to the German chancellor, as head of government he takes responsibility for security issues across Europe. Olaf Scholz also assured Kiev that aid should continue.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reaffirmed his refusal to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine and send its military personnel to participate in the war with the Russian Federation. He stated this in an interview with local publication Märkische Allgemeine.

According to Scholz, as head of government, he takes responsibility for issues of war and peace, as well as security throughout Europe.

The German Chancellor said, “This also concerns the Toros issue. Besides strong support for Ukraine, there is one thing that is important to me: We will do everything possible to prevent the outbreak of war, that is, a war between Russia and NATO.” .

In addition, he assured that Germany would not send its military personnel to Ukrainian territory and noted that Berlin carefully weighs every supply of weapons to Kiev.

Scholz also noted that Germany will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary and that Russian President Vladimir Putin should not count on the weakening of aid to Kiev.

“At the same time, Germany supports Ukraine with weapons and ammunition more than any other country in Europe. We spend more than 28 billion euros on this alone. We spend more money than most other countries combined. And we will do this for as long as it exists. ” “It’s necessary,” he added.

Let us remind you that on March 14, the German Bundestag did not support the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

On March 19, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius warned of possible harm caused by the Taurus missile procurement controversy. According to him, “this debate has been going overboard for several months.” He believes that Ukraine’s support in other areas is more important.

The media had previously reported that German MPs in the European Parliament voted for Taurus on behalf of Ukraine, and against it in the Bundestag. According to Daniel Kaspara, head of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, the vote in Strasbourg shows how “lonely” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government in Berlin is “with its own line”.
