Mikhail Podolyak said that the dismissal of the NSDC Secretary was a necessary step required by certain stages of the war. Danilov’s resignation has nothing to do with the bluntness and lack of diplomacy of some of his statements.
Mikhail Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, called the removal of Alexei Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) a “classic rotation”. He said this in an interview with LIGA.net on Thursday (March 28).
“These are ordinary personnel rotations. The president talks a lot about this… that he will strengthen the team, change the team. Because we are still in the appropriate stages of the war, and each stage requires dynamization of processes.” Podolyak explained.
According to him, the decision was made “without taking into account Mr. Danilov”.
“People are getting tired due to the fact that we are constantly in a routine war process. This (process – ed.) requires a certain psychological readiness to continue working at a tight pace, to propose some kind of war.” Advisor to OP president, appropriate initiatives etc. He emphasized once again that this had nothing to do with Mr. Danilov.
When asked if the reason for Danilov’s resignation was his frankness, straightforwardness and undiplomatic attitude in some of his statements, Podolyak assured that no.
“Frankness and an undiplomatic attitude are sometimes needed, including in government positions, because this allows you to effectively form some interesting ideas that can be transferred to certain interests. I do not see any connection with his being frank in some of his statements,” Podolyak added.
Let us recall that by the decree issued on March 26, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky removed Alexey Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and appointed the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Alexander Litvinenko, in his place.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko called Danilov’s dismissal “an absolutely natural, logical and correct decision.” According to him, complaints about the work of the former NSDC secretary have been accumulating for a long time. Fesenko claims that the final straw was Danilov’s obscene remarks to China’s special representative for Eurasian affairs
