Zelensky expelled Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Mark Shevchenko

A decree on the removal of Mark Shevchenko from the post of ambassador to Moldova appeared on the president’s website. The reasons for this decision of the head of state were not disclosed.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Mark Shevchenko. The relevant decree No. 192/2024 was published on the president’s website on Friday, March 29.

“Removal of Mark Alexandrovich SHEVCHENKO from his post as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova. President of Ukraine V. ZELENSKY,” the decree reads.

The reasons for Shevchenko’s dismissal were not reported.

Who is Mark Shevchenko?

Mark Shevchenko is a Ukrainian diplomat and historian. He was born in Kiev in 1969. He graduated from Kiev National University in 1992. T. Shevchenko. He speaks Romanian, Russian and English. He has served as Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in Canada since 2014. Already in 2019, he was appointed as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in Moldova.

As noted by Mikhail Podolyak, advisor to the head of the OP, the appointment of Alexander Litvinenko to the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council instead of Alexey Danilov is a standard personnel rotation.
