American tennis player Serena Williams flew out of the US Open (US Open), losing to Australian Ayla Tomlyanovic in the third round match, writes “Sport-Express”.

The famous athlete could not reach the fourth round. 40-year-old Williams lost to 29-year-old Tomlyanovic with a score of 5:7, 7:6 (7:4), 1:6.

The match lasted three hours and four minutes. In August, Williams announced that she plans to retire after the US Open.

Serena thanked her sister, tennis player Venus Williams, who also lost in the US Open tournament.

Sports experts noted that Williams was defeated before the second week of the US Open for the first time since 1998.

Williams is a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and a seven-time Australian Open winner. Williams has seven victories at Wimbledon, six at the US Open and three at Roland Garros. In total, Serena has won 75 WTA titles.
