Lamborghini, as we know it will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024 with its first LMDh hybrid prototype. A car that will debut again in 2024 in FIA World Endurance Championship (Hypercar class) and in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship (GTP class).
Now the automaker has finally shared first specifications his car, which will race in the WEC.
According to the report, the car will be equipped with a hybrid power plant, consisting of an internal combustion engine combined with an energy recovery system. Generally available will be 500 kW (681 hp). In particular, Lamborghini decided to combine the ERS system with new 90 degree twin turbo V8 engine. This is the first engine entirely designed and developed by Squadra Corse. The minimum unit weight is 180 kg according to regulations.
The LMDh program is part of the hybrid transition undertaken by Lamborghini and is a dedicated testbed for the next generation of road supercars, perfectly aligned with the Cor Tauri strategy.
The electric motor was designed by Bosch Motorsport, the battery management system by Williams Advanced Engineering, and the P1359 seven-speed gearbox by Xtrac. Lamborghini emphasizes that his car will be able to reach a top speed of 340 km/h. Weight 1030 kg (excluding fuel and driver) according to the regulations. The LMDh hybrid prototype is 5100 mm long, 2000 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 3148 mm.
Lamborghini also adds that the monocoque frame is made in collaboration with Ligier Automotive, while the carbon fiber elements are made in Italy by HP Composites. In addition to revealing a few things about his car, Lamborghini also shared a teaser showing some details of the prototype in dim light, including a front end with road-inspired Y-shaped headlights.
