Tite announced his resignation as head coach of the Brazil national football team. He made the corresponding statement at a press conference after the defeat of the Brazilians from Croatia in the quarterfinals of the World Cup.

The Brazilians were considered the main favorites of the tournament, but sensationally lost to the Croats in the penalty shootout.

Defeat is painful, but I am calm. This is the end of my cycle in the national team“, – Sport-Express quotes him.

It is noteworthy that Tito had indeed previously stated that he was going to leave the Brazilian national team.

Tite took charge of the Brazil national team in 2016. Under his leadership, the national team won the America’s Cup in 2019.

Recall that the Croatian national team became the first semi-finalist of the World Cup in Qatar, defeating the Brazilian team in the penalty shoot-out.

Regular time ended in a goalless draw. In extra time, Neymar put the Brazilians ahead (105th minute), but the Croats managed to save the game thanks to a goal from substitute Bruno Petkovic.

In the penalty shoot-out, the Croatian players were more accurate and won (4:2).
