Caerol Figueroa, 17-year-old who decided to represent the US instead of Honduras.

Mexico defeated the United States 3–1 in the final of the CONCACAF Under-17 World Cup in which several players scored. One of them is Caerol Figueroa, a young man who chose to represent the US over Honduras.

The 17-year-old plays for Liverpool’s youth team in the Premier League and recently revealed that he has decided to represent the US national team. and not in Honduras, where his father, former midfielder Minor Figueroa, was considered a figure, in addition to serving as captain several times.

“I’m happy to be on this team because, to be honest, I wouldn’t be happy to play against this team.. I believe in each of them, in each player that our coaches bring in – this is a talent, another talent, a separate piece of the puzzle. I couldn’t be more proud. I am happy to be on his side,” commented Cayroll in an interview during the tournament.

Honduras Football Federation hopes Figueroa will change his mind and decided to represent the national team at senior level when he turned 18 and play like his father.

“Fenafut continues to maintain a close relationship with the man who was the captain of the Honduras national team in the last two World Cups in which we participated. Best wishes to Cairol for continued success with his club. We believe he will decide to play for the Honduras national team in the future. just like his father,” said Edwin Banegas, director of communications for the Honduras Football Federation.

Figueroa scored 7 goals in the Koncacafe tournament and helped the USA qualify for the Under-17 World Cup. where he will become one of the stars of the tournament and choose his future with Team USA.
