Jalen Hurts extended his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles and became the highest paid player in NFL history.

Quarterback Jalen Herts became the highest paid player in NFL history after a five-year, $255 million contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to journalist Adam Schefter, the player is insured for $179.3 million.

This contract is the largest in NFL history, surpassing Deshawn Watson’s contract with the Cleveland Browns in 2022. Watson signed a $230 million contract, although unlike Herts, his contract is 100% guaranteed.

In addition to the financial bonus, the contract also includes a no-trade option, the first in Philadelphia Eagles history.

Herts, 24, was a 2022 season Most Valuable Player (MVP) nominee. after passing for 3,701 yards with 22 touchdowns on six interceptions while rushing for 760 yards and 13 points.

“Keep the main thing in Philadelphia. We have reached an agreement with Jalen Hurts for a 5-year extension through the 2028 season,” the team posted on social media of the Hurts renewal.
