Mexicans Brandon Moreno and “Panther” Rodriguez lose their UFC titles in a historic feature with Donald Trump as a witness.

Saturday’s UFC 290 show in Las Vegas was historic as two Mexican fighters contested their championship titles. Unfortunately, Both Brandon Moreno and Yair “Panther” Rodriguez lost their fights on one of the biggest nights of mixed martial arts in recent years.even with Donald Trump as a witness in the arena.

Shortly after Brandon Moreno was ousted from the throne by Brazilian Alexander Pantoia in a quick co-main event, “Panther” Rodriguez was defeated by TKO in the third round by now undisputed featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski of Australia.

The 34-year-old Australian Volkanovski held the UFC Featherweight title in 2019 and made four successful defenses before moving up to lightweight in February with an unfavorable outcome. He then returned to featherweight to face the 30-year-old Mexican, who in turn won the interim featherweight title at the same tournament in Australia.

Volkanovski improved his record to 26-2, confirming that he is one of the strongest UFC champions in recent years. Rodriguez was 16-4 after a strong dominance before the referee stopped the action.

Brandon Moreno relinquishes flyweight title in bloody fight

The battle between Brandon Moreno (21-7-2) and Alexandre Pantoja (26-5) was huge, bloody and difficult for the judges., in which the challenger won by split decision (46-49, 48-47, 48-47). The Tijuana native captured the regular flyweight crown for the second time last January in Brazil, defeating Deiveson Figueireda in their fourth meeting.

Pantoja has already beaten Moreno twice – one of them unofficially because it was on the reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” – for which he confirmed that he was the poison of the brave fighter from Tijuana. “Moreno has changed a lot,” Pantoja admitted in an interview in the octagon. “I didn’t expect such a tough guy, but I worked really hard for it.”
