Laura Ilg, 31, called 911 on Friday afternoon and told the dispatcher that she was 33 weeks pregnant and that her 2 year old son shot herThis is stated in a statement by the Norwalk Police Department, published by NBC.
Her husband, Alec, reported a few minutes later that his wife called him and yelled at him to call the police.
Police have released a recording of the 911 call and a panicked woman can be heard calling for help.
The officers arrived at 1:14 p.m., three minutes after the first bell rang, and broke into the house.
According to police, she told the police about what happened while they were providing assistance.
“Laura was taken to Fisher Titus Medical Center, where an emergency C-section was performed,” police said.
Her unborn child was declared dead less than an hour after the 911 call, and the woman was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m.
The arriving officers took possession of a Sig Sauer P365 weapon, along with a case and a loaded magazine.
The couple told the authorities that the gun was kept on the nightstand in his bedroom. The house also contained a 12-gauge shotgun and an airsoft rifle, police said.
No charges were filed, but police said the results of the investigation would be forwarded to the local prosecutor’s office.
