Russian freestyle wrestler Abasgadzhi Magomedov, competing in the up to 61 kg weight category, won a silver medal at the World Wrestling Championships, which is taking place in Belgrade.

In the final, Magomedov lost to the American Vitaly Arudzhau with a score of 9:10. The bronze medalists were Kyrgyz Tayirbek Zhumashbek and Georgian Shota Partenadze.

The 25-year-old athlete is a world and European champion, as well as a World Cup winner.

By reaching the finals, Magomedov secured an Olympic license for Russia to participate in the 2024 Games. However, the International Olympic Committee has not yet announced the admission of Russian athletes.

Let us remind you that Russian and Belarusian athletes are taking part in Belgrade under a neutral flag. In total, the UWW allowed 209 people from both countries to compete, including wrestlers of all categories and styles, as well as personnel accompanying the athletes.
