Audi Q3, new 1.5 TSI evo2 engine: more efficient and less fuel August 30, 2022 0

And here is an interesting technical innovation for the Audi Q3. In fact, the house of 4 rings has introduced a new 1.5 TFSI (Evo2) petrol engine, which we have already talked about in the past. This device is designed to optimize consumption and therefore also reduce pollutant emissions. It maintains the same performance as the previous generation 4-cylinder turbocharged engine.

READY FOR HYBRID

Audi says the new block is capable 150 hp (110 kW) with a maximum torque of 250 Nm.. Peak torque is given out constantly in a wide range: from 1500 to 3500 rpm. According to the house of 4 rings, the Evo2 engine is characterized by a reduction in consumption of up to 0.2 liters per 100 km and a reduction in emissions of up to 5 grams per km.

Engine matched with 6-speed manual transmission or to a dual clutch gearbox 7-speed S-tronic. Speaking of performance, Audi claims 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 and 9.4 seconds respectively for the Audi Q3 and Audi Q3 Sportback with a top speed of 210 km/h (208 km/h for the coupe variant).

The technical refinement of the 4-cylinder engine is evidenced by a variable geometry turbocharger solution, plasma coated cylinder liners to reduce friction, a cooling system that provides efficient temperature management, and an exhaust manifold integrated into the header. The aluminum crankcase contributes to the lightness of the engine, and the gasoline direct injection works at 350 bar to ensure a uniform atomization of the air-fuel mixture, uniform flame front development and reduced particulate emissions.

The engine can also count on the Advanced Cylinder on Demand (COD) system, which now offers extended range for partially deactivating the combustion chambers and optimized efficiency when used with a two-cylinder engine.

The new unit has been designed, among other things, to run on fuels with renewable components, as well as in combination with electric motors to form plug-in power units. From point of view consumption and emissionsAudi claims for Q3 1.5 (35) TFSI with manual transmission 6.3 – 7.0 l/100 km at CO2 emissions of 142 – 159 g/km, and with automatic transmission S tronic 6.5 – 7.3 l/100 km 100 km and 146 – 164. grams / km.

Instead, the Audi Q3 Sportback 1.5 (35) TFSI can expect a consumption of 6.4 – 7.0 liters per 100 km compared to CO2 emissions of 144 – 157 grams / km with a manual transmission; 6.6 – 7.2 liters per 100 km and 148 – 163 grams / km CO2 with automatic transmission.
