Elon Musk reiterated that this indicates prepare a new Full Self Driving by the end of the year to then release it to customers in the United States, and then (potentially) to European customers as well, based on regulations governing self-driving car functionality.
This is not the first time Musk has announced a timeline for the development of this technology. We know that Tesla has been developing new full self-driving for a long time, also through collaboration with a number of customers who are testing these new advanced features on the road. A technology that is making significant progress but still has a lot of work to do.
These statements by the Tesla CEO came during an energy conference held in Norway. As we have always emphasized, the timelines that Musk announced they should always be taken with due caution. While America’s number one car manufacturer is aiming to complete the development of a new full self-driving car by the end of the year, we are well aware that the work is actually long overdue. Musk has shared precise deadlines several times in the past that weren’t being met at the time.
What is truly certain is that Full Self Driving package will soon rise in price and not a few. An increase that will only affect North American market where you can already experience the new driving assistance functions. In fact, a few days ago, Elon Musk announced that on September 5, after the release of version 10.69.2 of the new self-driving full beta, the price of the package it will rise to $15,000 from the current $12,000.
Following the mass release of FSD Beta 10.69.2, the price of FSD will rise to $15,000 in North America on September 5th.
The current price will be kept for orders placed before September 5 but delivered later.

This is a very important number. However, this is not the first time that Tesla has adjusted the price of this package upwards. Elon Musk has explained this pricing policy in the past. Gradually, as functionality increases becomes available, the cost of the package will also increase. It also means that this new promotion probably won’t be the last.
As already mentioned, there is no increase for Europe, where the situation is different. As we know, due to regulations regarding driving assistance systems, the available features are limited. In Italy, for example, customers can choose from two packages: Advanced Autopilot for €3,800 and Full Self-Driving for €7,500.
