For breaking the rules: Elon Musk warned to block Twitter in European Union, – FT

The platform should establish clear criteria by which a particular user can be blocked and stop aggressively chasing misinformation.

The European Union warned American billionaire Twitter owner Elon Musk that the platform could be blocked in the EU or fined 6% of global turnover. According to The Financial Times, such measures will be implemented if Musk refuses to comply with EU rules on content modernization.

According to broadcast sources, Musk received such a warning during a video call on November 30 with Thierry Breton, European Commissioner responsible for enforcing EU digital laws. During the meeting, the official pointed out that the regulations and standards of the European Union should be followed.

In particular, they say, the social network should establish clear criteria by which a particular user can be blocked, refuse to arbitrarily restore blocked users, and aggressively pursue misinformation. Musk will also need to agree to a comprehensive independent audit by the summer of 2023.

At the same time, one of the sources of the publication noted that previously Musk has repeatedly called the EU content modernization law very reasonable and advocated its implementation not only within the EU, but all over the world.

Recall that American businessman Elon Musk had a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook to resolve misunderstandings about the possibility of Twitter being removed from the App Store. As a result, Musk said that Apple will not remove the Twitter app from the store.

Elon Musk announced that he has unblocked former US President Donald Trump’s account on the social network, following an online vote on November 20. 51.8% of approximately 15 million people voted yes to this resolution.
