Security officials say the drone helped invaders locate camouflaged positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Russian intelligence officers are using the latest Tachyon drones in Ukraine. The TASS agency writes about it, citing a source from law enforcement.
He claims that the RF Armed Forces have successfully used Tachyon to conduct aerial reconnaissance and detect hidden objects of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Allegedly, with the help of onboard cameras and thermal cameras, the drone helped the invaders to notice the well-camouflaged positions of the Ukrainian troops even at night.
As the source adds, “Tachyon” is used by reconnaissance units of the Russian Ground Forces. According to his information, he did not explain exactly where the latest UAVs were launched. TASS emphasizes that the Russian authorities have not yet issued an official report on the use of Tachyons on Ukrainian territory.
“Tachyon” is a small unmanned aerial vehicle created according to the “flying wing” scheme, its manufacturer is Izhmash – Unmanned Systems. Since 2015, the UAV has been serving in the Russian army as a means of conducting airborne reconnaissance at any time of the day, as well as transmitting communication signals and designating targets to artillery.
The drone has a glider with autopilot system, a pusher propeller, an electric motor that makes it fly very quietly, and payload units. A device weighing about 7 kg should be launched in a catapult, leaving a parachute for landing. According to the developers, it can withstand temperatures from -30 to +40 degrees and winds of up to 15 m/s.
