Folk aircraft “Cobra”: how Ukrainian analogues of Shahed are made from scratch (video)

Soon, an unmanned aerial vehicle with a powerful engine, a speed of 150 km / h and a payload of 10 kg will be tested jointly with the army and will be able to destroy the Russians.

Craftsmen from Krivoy Rog developed a Ukrainian reconnaissance aircraft called “Cobra”. They showed the production process and explained the interesting details of the project to Channel 5 reporters.

A team led by businessman Vitaly Bryzgalov set a goal: to assemble an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle weighing about 40 kg, capable of carrying a payload of up to 12 kg. They developed a 3 m long aircraft with a wingspan of 2.6 m, equipped it with a 10-liter fuel tank and a 12-horsepower engine.

Vitaly said, “Thanks to its heavy-duty big engine, it can deliver ‘gifts’ to the right place very quickly. Speed is 150 km/h, 3 hours of flight time, we are allowed to cover a very large area.” bryzgalov

According to the calculations of the creators, the cost of “Cobra” will be about $ 2,000, which is cheaper than its foreign or Ukrainian counterparts. They decided to use metal instead of composite materials to reduce the cost of production. Drone parts are cut from cold rolled steel with anti-corrosion coating using a numerically controlled (CNC) laser machine. This process is overseen by a volunteer named Yuri, who works with laser equipment.

The team reported that the first prototype is almost ready, with Ukrainian military personnel advising the developers during the design phase, and they plan to test it in three weeks. The developers want Cobra drones to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy the Russian invaders.

“The main idea is to reduce the number of people risking their lives, that is, to replace them with jobs, drones,” said Vitaly Bryzgalov. “It can be like a target for our men to exercise, a target that will cause fire on itself and waste enemy resources.”

Earlier, Vitaly Bryzgalov described the characteristics of a drone from Krivoy Rog. According to him, the team is developing a kamikaze drone similar to the Iranian Shahed, capable of delivering up to 10 kg of explosives at a distance of 300 km to destroy Russian equipment and ammunition depots. It plans to produce 100 devices per month.

In January, Ukrboronoprom reported the successful test of a domestic drone with a flight range of up to 1,000 km. Concern revealed that the device can carry a payload of up to 75 km, but other features are kept secret.
