The Skynetua drone will fly 50 km and drop bombs weighing up to 3 kg. According to its creator, the new model is better than the “kamikaze” because it will be able to return after being hit.
The developer of the Skynetua drone series, Mikhail Dronov, introduced a new bomber. He shared the details of the project on his Facebook page.
According to Mikhail Dronov, on January 27, the UAV made its first technical flight, and a series of tests will be carried out in the coming days. The engineer gradually changes the model, increasing its size and weight. In the final version, it expects to achieve a range of 50 km and a payload of up to 3 kg, a larger payload with a shorter flight time is also considered. In the comments, the developer stated that the new variant will aim at the target using cameras and fly at low altitude for greater accuracy.
Mikhail Dronov admitted that he decided to make a bomber because the kamikaze aircraft “is not suitable for everyone”. Drones that explode on impact are not cheap, and the new modification will be able to return by repeatedly attacking the invaders after dropping the warhead.
The creator did not give the bomber a new name and explained his decision in one of the comments:
“It doesn’t make sense. The complex has long been called Skynetua. There are three kits with a name, but they are part of Skynetua. This is the last iteration that needs to be developed.”
In July, they wrote that Mikhail Dronov, a resident of Krivoy Rog, created an unmanned SkyNet complex and began to prepare for mass production. According to the Ukrainian, the drone is inexpensive, about $ 1,000, and is designed for reconnaissance at any time of the day. Mikhail Dronov uses components purchased in Ukraine, the USA and China.
At the end of October, Mikhail Dronov reported that a new unmanned aerial vehicle for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was being tested. According to him, a 1100-watt electric motor made it possible to reach a speed of 139 km/h. The engineer suggested that the military use the model to intercept enemy Orlan and Shahed UAVs in the future. He planned to make three versions: for reconnaissance, for dropping bombs, and for attacking in “kamikaze” mode.
