Cruise has just announced a major milestone for its robot taxi, namely the completion of 1 million miles driven completely driverless.
The representative stated that it was huge success for the company, indicating that most of the miles were driven in the San Francisco area. Self-driving car trials began in November 2021, and Cruise became the first company to receive driverless deployment approval from the California Public Utilities Commission, which also allowed it to charge passengers for robot taxi rides as early as last June. Initially, the number of cars available in 2022 did not exceed 30, but then the fleet increased to 100 cars by the end of the year, and now the goal is to add another 5,000 cars.
