Alpha Strike drone and Plastun ground-based kamikaze robot created in Lviv (video)

Engineers delivered several prototypes to the army for testing on the front lines. They should help the Ukrainian Armed Forces reconnaissance and destroy the invaders.

Employees of Lviv Polytechnic National University will start mass production of Plastun ground plane, Alpha Strike unmanned aerial vehicle and armor-carrying robot. Details about the projects were published on the university’s official website.

A presentation was held in Lvov, where Lvov Polytechnic presented its new developments for military purposes. Engineers have already built prototypes, conducted tests, and some devices have been handed over to the army on the front lines. To start small-scale production, they put their projects on the Startera crowdfunding platform and also buy components in Ukraine and other countries.

“It is important that the military is already testing these devices, in particular, units that use UAVs, unmanned ground platforms to perform missions,” said Vadym Tabakera, deputy head of the economic policy department of the Lviv OVA.

Land plane – robot “Plastun”

The device resembles and functions like a machine on the control panel, but with a reasonable payload of 15kg. “Plastun” can scout, send ammo, lay or neutralize mines, distract the enemy, and act like a kamikaze drone to undermine targets. The operator can control such a robot at a distance of up to 5 km.

The developers note that thanks to special wheels, the Plastun robot has a high cross-country ability comparable to tracked platforms, but consumes much less energy. The device can go even after a piece or bullet hits the tire. Small dimensions allow the robot to be transported in a trolley, the modular design allows for quick repair and replacement of damaged parts. For the production of “Plastuna” it is necessary to collect 200 thousand UAH.

Alpha Strike reconnaissance aircraft

The aircraft-type drone is capable of reconnaissance at a distance of more than 40 km, which will help the Ukrainian Armed Forces to rectify artillery fire. Alpha Strike can fly autonomously and supports first-person control with goggles (First-person view or FPV). The aircraft is equipped with a GoPro camera for video recording.

“Such drones can fly at a fairly low altitude allowing them to fly within range of some electronic warfare systems. If the signal is lost, the device can extend the flight autonomously,” the developers write.

Robots “Spectrum” and “Termite”

The self-propelled remote-controlled robotic platform Spextr (“Spectrum”) is designed to accompany battlegroups, mining, reconnaissance and creating smokescreens. Its top speed is 25 km/h, its thrust capacity is more than 100 kg. The prototype robot has already been tested on the front lines, and scientists will launch it.

“Termite” has a similar design and function, but also has a “kamikaze” mod. The maximum speed is also 25 km / h, the load capacity is up to 50 kg. The Ukrainian army is testing 10 Termite prototypes on the front line.

Earlier, they wrote that Lviv Polytechnic engineers were working on a mine-clearing robot. It will take a tracked platform with a load capacity of up to 150 kg.

Recently, volunteer engineers from the Ivano-Frankivsk region introduced a land-based kamikaze drone capable of receiving 200 kg of explosives. It can scout, carry ammo to the frontline, or blow up targets.
