Every drone operator is threatened: Reznikov explains how China can help Russia

Ukraine’s Defense Minister is wary of Chinese drones and insists on expanding domestic production.

Russia, with the help of China, could interfere with the operation of Ukrainian drones and start a hunt for operators. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov spoke about the risks of cooperation in an interview with Liga.

Western officials are increasingly saying that China will start providing military aid to China. Oleksiy Reznikov pointed out that Ukrainian troops successfully used Chinese-made unmanned aerial vehicles on the battlefield. As the minister suggested, China may force manufacturers to limit the operation of UAVs.

“If, God forbid, China decides to join the Alliance, its manufacturers can do a lot to interfere with the operation of our UAVs. Since the aeroscope has not been canceled, the location of the operator is clear. And they will fight not the UAVs, but with the operators,” commented Reznikov.

He added that he was “very cautious” about drones procured from China because of such risks, and advocated the development of Ukraine’s drone production. According to Aleksey Reznikov, he recently met with the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Mikhail Fedorov, with representatives of 80 domestic companies and promised to buy all the UAVs they produce. For this, 20 billion UAH was allocated in the budget of the Ministry of Defense, another 10 billion was allocated by the government for the purchase of foreign drones. In addition, the Ministry of Interior plans to buy additional drones.

“We need an incredible number of UAVs. This is GameChanger. Both for reconnaissance/tuning UAVs, and 3 to 1000 km attack UAVs, naval UAVs. awareness,” stressed the Minister of Defense.

Earlier, they wrote that the Russians use AeroScope complexes of the Chinese company DJI to monitor drones and APU operators. They use technology that decodes communication signals between the UAV and control panels. As a result, users will learn the drone model, speed, direction, flight altitude, and most importantly, the launch location and operator’s placement.

Recently, hackers learned to find DJI drone operators without AeroScope. They hacked the firmware of one of the drone models, analyzed it, and created a special device to decrypt the signal for a few hundred dollars.
