Once you’ve selected your desired settings, simply tap the Home icon at the bottom of the display to return to the home screen. The new menu structure makes activating functions and settings much faster and easier.
The new BMW iDrive doubles. The automaker reports that iDrive 8.5 version based on Linux, will be gradually implemented in the BMW 7 Series, BMW iX, BMW i4, BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7, BMW XM models from July 2023. The new platform will be rolled out to other models as well. This version will be offered in conjunction with BMW’s larger curved display.
Instead for BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and BMW X1 (other successor models) from November 2023 iDrive version 9 is coming out, based on Android. Despite the major technical differences between iDrive 8.5 and iDrive 9, the functionality should be very similar. Models with iDrive 9 will likely also have access to the Play Store. Compatible “older” models will receive iDrive 8.5 via OTA.
