MINI aims to become an EV-only brand starting in 2030. To achieve this goal, several very important models will appear in the coming years. Then there will be a queue new electric MINI (the new generation will also be endothermic anyway) and the new Aceman will also be introduced, a model that will be offered exclusively on battery.
And speaking of the new electric MINI, more information comes thanks to Autocar, who had the opportunity to take part in an event organized by the brand in which he was able to speak with Stephanie WurstCEO of an automaker.
Supporting length about 3.8 meters, the new MINI will have a wider track, shorter front overhang, bigger wheels and a longer wheelbase. Aesthetic differences between electrical and endothermic models will be minimal. However, the 5-door version will only be available with petrol engines.
Electric MINI will operate new platform developed by a joint venture between MINI and Great Wall Motors and will be manufactured in China. According to reports, the car will be offered in two versions with different powertrains. The base version of the Cooper E will be able to count on about 184 hp. and a 40 kWh battery. Instead, the Cooper SE model will have an electric motor with about 218 hp, powered by a 54 kWh battery. At the moment we are talking about a range of 240 miles, equal to about 386 km.
It will come later also JCW version which can always count on a 54 kWh battery. Engine power should be about 250 hp. For the electric MINI, the automaker has also developed a special artificial sound that will change depending on the selected driving mode.
The new endothermic MINI will be offered with a variety of petrol engines, though no exact details are available yet. There should also be a new version of JCW. All internal combustion engine models must have an automatic transmission only.
