In 2023, the price of used cars from the USA has dropped significantly. Electric cars lose far more in price than models with internal combustion engines.
Used car prices in the US have fallen. After a sharp increase in previous years, the used car market is starting to “cool down” gradually. This was reported by the American site iSeeCars.
Experts analyzed more than 1.8 million transactions for the purchase of used cars. It turns out that used car prices from the United States fell by 3.6% in one year. This is positive news for Ukraine because used cars from America are popular with us.
At the same time, it is noted that the decline in the electric car segment is much larger – almost 30% per year. If there was an 8.8% decrease in the cost of electric vehicles in January compared to the same period last year, this figure reached 16.8% in March and 29.5% in June.
The average price of a used electric car in the US in January of this year was $48,557, but has now dropped to $40,916.
iSeeCars analyst Karl Brouwer attributed the decline in used electric car prices to Tesla’s discounts on Model 3 and Model Y. Potential buyers abandon used electric cars in favor of new ones. Also, the fall in oil prices played a role – it reduced the demand for electric vehicles.
Named and used cars are the biggest losers in price. Tesla models were the most priced.
