Nearby Share: Android AirDrop now available on Windows

Google said that the Nearby Share feature, designed to send files wirelessly, already has a version that is compatible with Windows 8 and later.which will offer its users a new way to transfer files.

The launch of the new beta app follows the path of announcements made by the company during its participation in the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas earlier this year. At the time, they indicated that they had plans to develop such a tool.

“Nearby Share Beta works with your Windows PC whether the app is open on the desktop or running in the background,” said Priya Sumnerkar, Senior Product Manager for Android.

According to information provided by Google, the process of sending files from PC will be as easy as dragging and dropping the file into the app. Once this is done, all that remains is to select the device to which you want to send the material and give the other person permission to receive the file on their phone or computer.

noteworthy If the file transfer is between two devices that use the same Google account, the process will be faster. since it will not be necessary to “accept” the reception of the material. In addition, transfers can be carried out regardless of whether the screen of the computer or phone is locked.

“To share from your Android device to your computer, just make sure the Near Share Beta app is running on your PC. Then it’s as easy as clicking “Share” on the content you want to send and selecting your computer from the list of available devices.”

Share nearby

Google’s idea of having a mechanism to compete with AirDrop isn’t new, which is why they’ve decided to launch Nearby Share in 2020.an alternative to the Apple service that offers almost the same benefits.

Thus, users of Android devices can take advantage of the opportunity send files, even large ones, quickly and securely. This integration puts Android at the level of iOS devices that have been using this feature for a long time.
