The developers plan to at least direct the Russian air defense systems by May 9, when they replace the engine of their UAV.
Engineers from Krivoy Rog will launch their Cobra kamikaze drone to Moscow on May 9. Team leader Vitaly Bryzgalov stated this on his Facebook page.
He writes that he appreciated the capabilities of his drone and decided to fly it to the territory of Russia. To do this, the developer, together with his partners, drew up a plan, determined the necessary parameters and came to the conclusion that the engine should be upgraded to Euro 5 standards.
“No, not for the environment, but for the economy. Fly away, so the injector is just what you need. There will be an air defense demonstration over Muscovy,” said Vitaly Bryzgalov.
He added that the task ahead of the UAV is unusually difficult, but that even if it does not reach Moscow, it will distract the Russian air defense system. According to him, several competing teams are working on the same project, and the drones are very good.
Previously, they wrote that the Ukrainian Cobra kamikaze drone was tested at the training ground. According to the developers, the drone can deliver up to 15 kg of explosives at a distance of up to 300 km. The cost of the aircraft is about $ 2000. To cut costs, engineers opted for conventional aircraft technology by cutting parts from sheet steel and joining them with rivets. The method is useful for its low cost as well as its high speed because you can collect 10 drones a day if you have all the necessary resources.
On April 6, monobank founder Volodymyr Yatsenko promised a reward of UAH 20 million to engineers whose drone will fly to Moscow on May 9. According to the conditions of the competition, the UAV must have an inscription in Ukrainian on its wings and land directly on Red Square.
