The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 560 people, 26 tanks and two attack aircraft in an attempt to attack the Kherson and Nikolaev regions.
“As a result of the active defense of the grouping of Russian troops, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered heavy losses. During the fighting, 26 Ukrainian tanks, 23 infantry fighting vehicles, nine other armored combat vehicles were destroyed, two Su-25 attack aircraft were shot down”the message says.
The Defense Ministry concluded that the Ukrainian offensive attempt had failed miserably.
Earlier on August 29, the head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, stated that reports of a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine are fake, and the Ukrainian army is suffering serious losses.

The deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region, Kirill Stremousov, called the “offensive” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Kherson a fantasy and an illusion.
