Ferrari, Elkann confirms: first electric car coming in 2025 April 14, 2023 13

2022 this was extremely positive for Ferrari, with particularly strong market results. John ElkannPresident of the Prancing Horse, during the annual meeting of shareholders, emphasized the financial results obtained by the company last year, in a very difficult environment for the automotive sector.

In 2022, we set new records for deliveries, revenue and profitability. Accounts met and exceeded our recommendations. 2022 represents a solid starting point for our new plan and we are ready for 2023.

The shareholders’ meeting was not just an opportunity to discuss financial statements and approve the payment of dividends. In fact, it was about the future, as well as about electrification program from Ferrari.

ELECTRIC – AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FUTURE

Maranello reaffirmed earlier commitments regarding electrification. John Elkann confirmed that the first all-electric Ferrari will appear in 2025. and that electrification represents a golden opportunity for their future.

The further development of the electrification of our vehicles represents a great opportunity for us in the future. We started our F1 electrification journey fourteen years ago in 2009, and what we learned on the track was first applied to our sports cars in 2013. In 4 years, we have released 4 hybrid models, each of which has been an incredible success in the market. Thanks to this sporting heritage and extensive technical capabilities, we are building our first all-electric Ferrari, which will be a milestone in our history and will be introduced in 2025.

So, it seems that “Prancing Horse” be ready for the test which will bring electrification with the desire to continue to be a leader in new generation technologies. Obviously, Maranello has absolutely no intention of abandoning the endothermic engine. Indeed, as pointed out Benedict VignaFerrari CEO:

We believe that the combustion engine still has a lot to offer, and through greater energy efficiency and e-fuel, we will develop solutions together with our partners that will make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.

Speaking about 2023, Vigna emphasized that the company set a number of priorities including the launch of 4 new models.

We will compete at the top of various racing championships; we will continue to improve the experience of our customers both on the track and on the road, enriching them with the release of 4 new models; we will expand Lifestyle’s clientele through a coherent and integrated offering of personal goods and unique experiences; and we will continue to accelerate the pace of innovation with a focus on electrification and HMI, as evidenced by four times the number of patents we filed in 2022 than in 2021.

It couldn’t be even Formula 1. Elkann stressed that there was an improvement last season, but the goal is still to win the world title.

At the last World Cup, our competitiveness has improved. However, our goal is to win the championship, and Fred Wasser and the entire Scuderia team are fully focused on achieving this goal.
