“Tit”, “Beaver”, UJ-22: which drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can attack Moscow and what is known about them

Russian experts are investigating what kind of devices came to their capital with explosives and how to deal with them in the future.

On May 30, the Russians learn which drones attacked Moscow and the Moscow region. Analysts identified three potential models: Tit, Beaver and UJ-22 Airborne and Focus Find out what is known about them.

Drone A-2 Tit

According to Russian military correspondent and propagandist Alexander Kots, who works at the Komsomolskaya Pravda publishing house, Ukraine launched modernized A-2 Sinitsa drones.

Eyewitnesses noticed and even managed to film mysterious UAVs in the sky over the Moscow Region, made according to a rather rare aviation “duck” scheme. As Alexander Kots noted, they are outwardly similar to Israeli IAI HAROP kamikaze drones with a flight range of up to 1000 km.

The Russian military commissar suggested that the drones flying to Moscow could be a “further development” of the Ukrainian A-2 Sinitsa UAVs, developed by the Vzlyot design bureau from Kharkov. The model is built according to the same “duck” scheme, but visually smaller than the UAVs captured by the Russians.

“This is a short-range UAV that cannot stay in the air for more than an hour. If the enemy used the A-2 to raid Moscow, then the drone was launched somewhere from the Moscow suburbs,” said the propagandist.

According to Mash media, a drone similar to the Sinitsa was spotted flying towards Ilyinsky over the village of Petrovo-Dalnee in Krasnogorsk district, Moscow region, at 06:46 on 30 May. The wingspan is estimated at 3 m (1.8 m for the A-2), in addition, after the fall, gasoline engines (instead of electric motors) and cumulative ammunition were found in them. Previously, such a change was unknown.

“Tit” is a small 5 kg unmanned aerial vehicle flying at 80 km/h. It was originally designed for environmental monitoring, monitoring of protected objects, border protection, support of ground forces, reconnaissance of areas where accidents or disasters occurred. Two UAVs “A-2 Sinitsa” are part of the mobile multipurpose unmanned complex “SKIF-1”.

Drone “Beaver”

The author of the Telegram channel “Russian Engineer” pointed out that the UAV with the “duck” layout is similar to the Ukrainian “Beaver” kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicle developed for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. As a matter of fact, the drone seen over the Moscow region is very similar to the plane blogger Igor Lachenkov showed in May in terms of its outline, wings, tail and horizontal feathers, its technical specifications are still unknown.

“From the photo and video, the wingspan is about 2.5 meters, the length is about 2-2.5, the speed is about 150-200 km/h. Based on these data, we can estimate that its weight is not more than 150 kg and 10-20 kg’ in the warhead. “It can come as far as the blast, which is related to the video about the explosions,” he said.

He also noted the existence of a landing gear that theoretically allows launching a UAV from a highway. The analyst also suggested the possibility of assembling the drone before launch.

UJ-22 Airborne unmanned aerial vehicle

Russian media Shot admitted that the UJ-22 Airborne unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Ukrainian company Ukrjet took part in the attack on Moscow and the region. It is known that such a drone can lift up to 20 kg of payload and fly up to 800 km. It can be used as a reconnaissance, attack UAV or kamikaze aircraft.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russians captured a plane similar to the UJ-22 Airborne and then shot it down. However, Dmitry Rogozin, head of the “Tsar’s Wolves” military-technical center, assures Telegram that in fact an ordinary private Cessna aircraft was videotaped – there are hundreds of them in Russia. According to the expert, it is given by the crossbeams under the wing – the “struts” feature of the structural strength scheme of the aircraft, and not the UAV.

On May 30, the InformNapalm volunteer community reported that Chinese drones were launched to Moscow from the Moscow Region, as well as from its eastern part. Thereupon, Russian security forces began to look for saboteurs in the region.
