Triumph TR25 it’s a concept electric roadster implemented Makina, a London-based design studio, perhaps little known to the public, but has been collaborating with various car manufacturers for 25 years. To celebrate the first 25 and 100 years of Triumph Motor Company, this very special concept vehicle was created.
This project was implemented in collaboration with BMW Group which owns the rights to the Triumph Motor Company brand. The German group supplied the BMW i3S platform, which was used to develop the Triumph TR25.
For the design, McKeen wanted revisiting the Triumph TR2 in a modern way which, back in 1953, set the speed record for production cars with a displacement of less than 2 liters, accelerating to 200 km / h (the concept also celebrates the 70th anniversary of this record). However, compared to the car of the past, the concept car has 100% electric power train.
In particular, the electric motor is able to provide 135 kW/184 hp. All this is powered by a 42.2 kWh battery. Autonomy has not been declared. In terms of performance, the concept is capable of accelerating 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds (1.7 seconds less than the i3S) and a top speed of 185 km/h.
Triumph TR25 chassis and bodywork have been widely used carbon and this allowed the total weight to be limited to 1095 kg (50:50 distribution). The design is very specific. In front, we can observe the presence of two round headlights. The first has a 2 and the second has a 5. This is a reference to McKeen being 25 years old.
The concept can then count on small vertical opening doors, vertical taillights and 21-inch wheels. By removing the cover, you can also get a second seat. The passenger compartment is very minimalistic, and behind the steering wheel we find only a small screen that displays information about the final drive.
Triumph TR25 should stay simple exercise style. However, the founder of Makkina, Michael AniAuto Express told Auto Express that using the BMW i3S platform would make it possible to turn the concept into a production model if the opportunity presents itself.
