According to the new head of the defense ministry, VVK in its current form should be left in the past. A unified registration of conscripts would eliminate any risk of corruption.
The Ministry of Defense plans to introduce an electronic military ID, create a unified enlistment record and digitize the VVK. This was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Wednesday (September 6th), Interfax-Ukraine reported.
According to the plans, all processes within the framework of military health commissions (VVK) should be implemented in a digital environment.
Speaking at the plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, the minister said, “VVK – this abbreviation in today’s understanding should be a thing of the past. The task is to digitize all processes, to initiate a unified recruitment record that will eliminate any risk of corruption.”
According to Umerov, anything that can be converted to electronic format needs to be translated. All data pertaining to a particular soldier must be numeric, whether it is a military ID, VVK results, hospital records, data from an electronic journal, or an army report.
On September 6, Verkhovna Rada deputies supported President Volodymyr Zelensky’s proposal to appoint Rustam Umerov as Ukraine’s new Defense Minister.
Recall that Umerov, already in the status of head of the Ministry of Defense, said in one of his first statements that corrupt officials are equated with terrorists.
It was also reported that within three weeks in Ukraine all VVK will be checked. This statement was made by Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets on 31 August.
