Equipment “eaten” by flames: Punisher drone destroys Russian electronic warfare system worth $20 million (video)

Punisher, the unmanned aerial vehicle of a separate sniper company of the 58th brigade, in cooperation with the combined air reconnaissance group of the 129th separate brigade of territorial defense forces, jointly destroyed the Russian electronic warfare system “Borisoglebsk-2”. The relevant video was published by the developers of these drones on their Facebook page.

The Russian military installed the electronic warfare system in the private sector between residential buildings. First, 129th separate brigade aerial reconnaissance officers spotted the equipment, then a drone operator joined the operation. The Punisher sent his attack drone to the target, dropping a bomb and successfully hitting the Borisoglebsk-2 electronic warfare system: the system burst into flames and burst into flames. The military announced that a relatively inexpensive Ukrainian drone managed to destroy $20 million worth of enemy equipment.

Punisher drones: technical specifications

The idea to create the Punisher came from a team of Ukrainian military personnel who, during the war in 2014, performed extremely difficult missions behind enemy lines to save the lives of defenders. It was already developed into a drone prototype in 2016. But at that time, the project was strictly classified in order to protect the drone itself and its participants from the enemy. In 2020, attack drone company UA Dynamics went public.

The Punisher is resistant to electronic warfare, and due to the drone being silent and inconspicuous, the Ukrainian army gains a significant advantage in combat conditions. The attack drone can use the following types of ammunition:

• air blast land mine;
• tandem with impact core;
• Cumulative;
• thermobaric;
• controlled.

• wingspan – 2 m;
• cruising speed – 80 km/h;
• maximum speed – 198 km/h;
• flight range – up to 45 km;
• effective height – up to 400 m;
• The permissible wind speed is 21 m/s.

The Punisher kit includes a ground control station assembled in Germany (based on the military-protected Roda Lizard laptop supplied to 15 armies of NATO countries), a drone control joystick, a communications antenna on a tripod and the drone itself; ammunition is carried separately in boxes. The drone is disassembled, but after a short training, it can be assembled in just 5 minutes.

What is the Borisoglebsk-2 electronic warfare system?

Borisoglebsk-2 is a Russian complex capable of jamming satellite communications and radio navigation systems. This complex is built on the basis of MT-LB and is a descendant of the Soviet Mandat complex. The complex has a control center and separate cars with radio stations. There are nine cars with different equipment. In the past, the military used frequencies up to 1000 MHz, but with the advent of new technologies such as VHF radios and mobile phones, the range has been extended. Now the Russians can operate in the range up to 2000 MHz, which allows Borisoglebsk to take direction and interfere with the operation of VHF stations, GPS, mobile phones and winged UAVs.

Let’s remember, in June 2023, Punisher drones destroyed Russian equipment worth $ 30 million in one day. The Madyar Birds unit successfully attacked the invaders in the direction of Donetsk. Judging by the video, in one day the operators were able to destroy a URAL truck, two BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems, a Tor anti-aircraft missile system and a field ammunition depot.

And at the beginning of November 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a Russian firing position with the Ukrainian Punisher drone. The drone carried out a bombardment and foiled the mortar attack with a precision bullet fire.
