“Xenophobia according to Western patterns”: search engines and artificial intelligence cancel Russian culture, – Putin (video)

According to the Russian president, the guide for the development of modern technologies should be traditional culture and ideals, about which science fiction writers Belyaev, Efremov and others wrote.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at the “Journey to the World of Artificial Intelligence” conference on Friday, November 24, and described the field of artificial intelligence as an extraordinary achievement of the human mind. However, he stated that there is also an ethical side to the issue. TASS reports this.

“Such ethical, moral and social aspects raise serious questions in our country and around the world,” the Kremlin chief said, adding that the future does not lie in banning the development of technology, although some suggest a pause. in the field of AI.

According to him, it is not possible to ban research in this direction, but it is still necessary to consider security.

Putin believes that traditional culture should be the guide here. He described culture as the natural regulator of technological progress, “like Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, and the ideals of goodness and respect for man that such outstanding science fiction writers as Belyaev and Efremov wrote about.”

The Russian president also raised the possibility that Western AI algorithms could actually cancel out Russia in the digital sphere. He said some search engines and generative AI models work too selectively and sometimes do not take Russian culture into account.

“Simply put, the machine is given some kind of creative task and decides to use only the English dataset that is suitable and useful for system developers,” he said, adding that in his opinion: this is “cancellation in the digital space”.

“Such xenophobia could come from artificial intelligence created according to some Western standards and patterns,” he said.

Let us remind you that, according to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, Putin has taken an even more anti-Israeli stance and is trying to undermine support for Ukraine.

According to the testimony of an officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Putin insists on negotiations because he wants to triumph as a winner.
