“It will fly anywhere in Crimea”: long-range attack aircraft “Kanyuk” was created for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (video)

The Ukrainian UAV was partly based on the Russian Orlan, which the Defense Forces captured in 2022.

In Ukraine, the high-speed unmanned aerial vehicle “Kanyuk” was created for the army, which can reach speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour and attack targets at great distances. Ruslan Zhadnov, head of Active Crimea, one of the authors of the idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a drone, talked about this in an interview with Suspilny journalists.

He explained that the drone was specially created by order of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The drone takes its name from the falcon or falcon, a bird of prey named after a cape in Crimea. While working on the drone project, engineers examined photos and videos of the Russian Orlan UAV, which the Ukrainian army managed to shoot down in 2023. In a sense, this enemy aircraft became the basis for Ukraine’s creation of a long-range and high-speed unmanned aerial vehicle.

Buzzard can carry a large payload mass, be launched by a catapult, and reach speeds of up to 300 km/h. The drone is controlled by the operator using a camera and control devices. Its advantages are speed and range, as well as the ability to carry a large load. “Kanyuk” has a flight range of 70 km and costs about 5 thousand dollars. The drone is equipped with an RPG projectile that is launched towards the target under the control of the operator.

“The main goal that we have set for ourselves from the beginning is to help the army in the southern direction. And we have set ourselves the goal of making a drone that will fly anywhere in Crimea,” Ruslan Zhadnov told reporters.

He also stated that he had passed the combat test and was transferred to the front. We are talking about a dozen Kanyuk UAVs that have already been used by soldiers of the 36th Marine Brigade conducting combat missions in the Kherson direction.

Technical characteristics of the drone “Kanyuk”:

  • speed – 300 km/h;
  • drone weight – from 10 to 12 kg;
  • flight range – up to 70 km;
  • payload – RPG ammunition;
  • type of drone – aircraft;
  • launch – from a catapult;
  • price – 5 thousand dollars.

Let us remind you that we wrote earlier that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive “night vision” kamikaze drones with which they can “answer” the Russians. Ukrainian developers plan to transfer not only ready-made FPV drones, but also separate cameras so that the military can install them on existing UAVs.

It also became known that at the end of December 2023, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive the Ukrainian version of Lancet drones. The uniqueness of the UAV lies in its artificial intelligence system, which allows it to find targets autonomously. Soon the creators promise to install a new engine so that it can fly even to Moscow.
