A “jellyfish UFO” flying over a US military base in Iraq was not a hot air balloon or an optical illusion caused by a damaged lens, according to a former UK Ministry of Defense investigator. Metro writes about this.
Images taken in 2018 show a mysterious round-shaped object with dangling legs. The color of this object also changed from white to gray and then back to black.
The video was released by investigative director Jeremy Corbell. He acknowledged that his sources took risks by giving him the footage.
He also stated that an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (another UFO term) dived into the lake and remained there for about 17 minutes, then flew back into the sky at a 45-degree angle.
Eyewitnesses also stated that they could not detect the object without a thermal camera, and that the change in the color of the UFO also showed that the temperature of the object had changed.
However, some claim that they only see a bubble or even a smudge on the camera lens.
But Nick Pope, who headed the British Ministry of Defense’s UFO investigation department in the 1990s, believes there is no clear answer.
“These intriguing images are difficult to explain,” he said. “Skeptics have theories that they are balloons tied together, carried by the wind, or dirt on the camera’s lens or protective glass.”
However, if the images turn out to be real, these simple explanations will have to be put aside.
“We will have to wait and see if there is additional video and if the Pentagon will approve the footage,” he said.
Pope and Corbell had previously received videotapes shot at military bases. So, in 2021, a video was released showing an American ship sinking after a collision with an unidentified object.
Pope is confident the new video is real. But he says questions still remain, including whether the video is in the Pentagon database.
It appears that the place where the images were taken was an international military base.
“It would be interesting to know whether the UK was there, whether the Ministry of Defense had any knowledge of the incident, and whether British military surveillance systems recorded UFO images,” he said.
