New generation of Dacia Sandero? will arrive in 2027 or 2028 and this will be offered also in electric version. The automaker’s CEO Denis Le Vot, speaking to Automotive News Europe at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, confirmed what was revealed last summer about plans for the car. Sandero this is Dacia’s best selling car and that’s why it’s very important. It sold 235,839 units last year, according to Dataforce. In Europe, it was the second best-selling car overall, behind only the Tesla Model Y.
The next generation Sandero will have an internal combustion engine, but there will also be an electric version. It will arrive in 2027 or 2028 and will remain on the market until 2035, when the EU introduces the sale of only zero-emission vehicles.
The Dacia number one then added that the new model will benefit from the developments carried out by the Renault group on “small” electric cars, including the Renault 5 presented in Geneva and the future Renault 4. As for the new electric Sandero, the car manufacturer will thus take advantage of the latest technologies developed by Renault for its cars. This means that the car will likely be based on the CMF-B EV platform, renamed as we know AmpR Small.
Denis Le Vot did not provide further details. However, Dacia’s first player has spoken in the past about its desire to continue offering the Sandero affordable price, also in electric version. For this reason, a lot of work will be done to contain costs, focusing primarily on cheaper batteries, even possibly at the expense of autonomy and charging time.
In any case, it’s too early to talk about specifics, because years after the debut, a lot can change as it develops. An important fact is that the CEO confirmed his desire to offer the new Sandero also in an electric version, confirming the timing. We can only wait for new news about the development of a new generation of this model.
