“Durov reacts quickly”: Telegram cooperates with Russian law enforcement agencies – State Duma deputy

According to the head of the youth policy committee, Artem Metelev, in Russia the messenger operates “within the framework of the law” and its management “complies with it” and blocks “prohibited content”.

Telegram messenger, founded by Pavel Durov, cooperates with Russian law enforcement agencies. According to the RTVI correspondent, this was stated by the Chairman of the State Duma Youth Policy Committee Artem Metelev.

This is how Metelev commented to journalists about the possible blocking of Telegram in Russia. According to the MP, the messenger was working “within the framework of the law”.

“Both the Telegram administration and Pavel Durov always react very quickly to events – we see this simply – cooperate with law enforcement agencies, including blocking prohibited content,” he said.

Metelev added that the Russian Center for the Protection of Youth Rights “regularly receives requests to block this or that channel.” And messaging moderators allegedly “went into a meeting” and “banned such content.”

“Well, the terrorists will recruit mercenaries not through Telegram, but through WhatsApp or somewhere else. Here we need to work on prevention, algorithms, I’m sure the special services are doing this,” the deputy added.

He also expressed confidence that envoy managers “understand their responsibility to society, to people’s lives and health.”

Let us recall that earlier the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that he expected Russian authorities to pay more attention to the recent terrorist attack by Telegram reporter Pavel Durov at the Crocus City Hall in the Moscow region.
