Pork in sweet and sour sauce is a popular Chinese dish that is very relevant as the Chinese New Year is celebrated.

Now in China, and not only Chinese New Year is celebrated there. According to tradition, it is not celebrated for a day, but for more than a week. Then it’s time to learn how to cook pork in sweet and sour sauce, perhaps the most popular dish in Chinese cuisine.

It’s served in restaurants around the world, but it’s also easy to make in your own kitchen. And bring a sense of celebration.

Pork in sweet and sour sauce

Contents:

  • three sweet peppers;
  • pork neck – 400 g;
  • a light bulb;
  • canned pineapple – 50 g;
  • Shiitake mushrooms (or champignons or oyster mushrooms) – 100 g;
  • Corn starch – 50 g;
  • sugar – 100 g;
  • Ketchup – 160 g;
  • soy sauce – 50 ml;
  • Mirin (sweet rice sauce) – 30 ml;
  • Rice vinegar – 30 ml;
  • Vegetable oil – 60 ml.

The first step is to prepare the sauce, which is the most important ingredient of the dish. Whisk together the sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, sushi vinegar, and mirin sauce in a bowl. Then we set it aside.

Peel the onion and cut into half rings, pepper – into strips. By the way, if you want the dish to be more elegant, take peppers of different colors: red, green and yellow. Mushrooms and pineapple cut into medium-sized cubes. Don’t be shy about canned pineapple, you can buy it fresh, but the first option will add the necessary sweetness to the dish.

We cut the pork into medium-sized cubes, dip in starch and fry in vegetable oil until fully cooked.

Add onions, peppers and mushrooms to the pork, fry over high heat for about three minutes, and then add the sauce. Mix until all ingredients are incorporated. We reduce the fire, the finished dish must be left for about five minutes so that it becomes more tasty and fragrant. Serve with plain white rice.
