May 12, 2023: Memnon the Miracle Worker – what should not be done today?

You can’t share plans and organize a general cleanup today.

What happened today?

Today, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of Memnon the Wonderworker. The Miraculous Monk Memnon wandered from his youth in the Egyptian desert, where he constantly prayed and fasted, thereby winning the victory of the spirit over the flesh. After becoming abbot of one of the Egyptian monasteries, he wisely ruled over his brothers. Helping them with prayer and counsel, the monk did not stop performing his exploits and fighting temptations. Soon, he received the gift of insight, thanks to his prayers, a spring that opened in the desert. After the saint’s death, only the pronunciation of his name drove away locusts and evil spirits.
