In Moscow, the cult restaurant “Pushkin” was almost on fire

The restaurant opened in 1999 and was visited by Angelina Jolie and Bill Clinton.

A large number of fires broke out in Moscow yesterday in a few hours. The business center on Tverskaya was on fire, and then the fire spread to the roof of the restaurant of the noble cuisine Pushkin’s cafe. The URA writes about it.

The fire in the nearby Pushkin restaurants and the Pan-Asian restaurant “Turandot” became the third fire in the capital of the Russian Federation.

First, a fire broke out in the Yamskaya City business center. Then the explosion occurred in the laboratory building of the Institute of Organic Chemistry in Moscow. People were blocked in the business center, one of them died.

After that, a fire broke out in a cult institution from pre-Putin times, which took the advice of a Michelin guide.

At the time of the fire, there were 14 newlyweds in the Pushkin building. After the wedding celebrations, an after party was held.

The party had to be interrupted, all visitors were evacuated. So there were no casualties.

One of the suitors who were in the restaurant at the time of the incident commented on the fire, “Moscow could not bear our burdens and burned.” Later, the press service of the restaurant’s owner, Maison Dellos, denied the information about the fire. They explained that the fire started in a neighboring building.

Recall that the restaurant of noble cuisine “Cafe Pushkin” has been operating since 1999. The institution is regularly included in international ratings. And in 2021 Cafe Pushkin received a recommendation from the Michelin guide. The restaurant is among the 50 best restaurants in Moscow.

At different times, Angelina Jolie, Cher, Will Smith, Bill Clinton, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Benjamin Netanyahu and many more have had lunch and dinner at this restaurant.

The restaurant was opened by businessman Andrei Dellos, the son of a famous architect and a hero of the French resistance and pop singer. While working at Intourist, he was constantly asked by foreigners, “Where is the Pushkin cafe?” sung by the famous chansonnier Gilbert Beco in the song “Natalie” in 1964. So Dellos decided on the name right away.

Furnishing the restaurant with antiques, he was inspired by the style of his grandparents, who, after “zipping” it, occupied the smallest room in their old apartment and former house.

Later, Dellos opened Pushkin restaurants in Paris and Qatar. He is also the owner of the “Moo-moo” fast food chain and a Michelin-starred Betony restaurant in New York.

Recall that a fire broke out in a business center in the center of Moscow. So far, there are no reports of what caused all of yesterday’s fires in the Russian capital.
