What happened today?
Today the Orthodox Church honors the memory of Saints Thomas and Akakios. Thomas was a wealthy warrior, but one day he devoted himself to God, became a monk and settled on Mount Malevskaya in Laconia, where he fought against many temptations and was able to conquer his body. Saint Akakiy was a monastic apprentice and also devoted his life to serving God, giving up worldly possessions.
